Hi Parents , I haven't forgotten to start to check out some playground parks. Weather is getting better
now so i have found a few to check out in the next few weeks regarding my past post about starting a
list to help parents make a choice of safety factors and so on regarding parks for Special needs (All Children also )
Will do a write up soon. Hope some parents will add to the list as i think it is great information
to have when spending time together at the Playground park.
These are some of the key factors to keep in mind when you visit the playground
1> Is the carpark right next to where the play area is ?be careful of the child next to the car park awhile others are just sitting in their cars!!!
2. Fencing ???? is the Playground next to .A Lake ? A River side? Sudden drop of the side of a walk way
without proper fence ? small pond???? river grasses ,hidden danger factors?
3. Broken or old worn out dangerous swing's ,slides and so on?
4 Broken glasses ,bottles and even worse needles laying around?
5 Footpaths uneven ? steps falling out (bricks ) tripping dangers
6. Seen snakes laying on the grass sun baking ? Be careful Summer heat does bring them out in
the Country Parks and also near river banks in the Out Suburbs .
7 Enough seating for you and the Child to rest and enjoy the Park ?(some have worn out broken seats )
8 Undercover area if needed to have a break form the heat of the day or rain ?
The reason i posted this Topic a while ago is when my Son was toddler , pre school i couldn't
always find a park with some of these points that where on the positive side. The park looked
fantastic from the road or driving past, but as soon as we got there i could see straight away dangerous
items, laying around , old playground swings and so on. Red Flags alert .
Keep it in mind if you would like to make a list of some really good parks ,it would help
Mothers who are wondering where to spend some play time with the Child. Word of mouth
is the best guide for parents of special needs and also Parents who love the Park day out theme !
Will keep you posted on this topic !!
Kind Regards Skatergirl08
